Anaika Ocasio – The Serene Spot
1. What is your background and when did you know you wanted to open up a shop/business for yourself?
Prior to opening The Serene Spot I was a career employee for the United States Postal Service for 16 years working the overnight shift to be present and home with my children during the day.
2. Why did you choose New Haven? What has been your experience in this community and how has it shaped your business?
Having been a New Haven resident for over 30 years and living in the East Rock area as a child that area was always dear to my heart for opening the business there, just adding to the economic make up and the community welcoming the business with open hearts has been truly inspiring and makes me proud to be there.
3. How has the current climate affected your business? Do you think it’s important to remain open during this time and why?
We have been mandated to close by the state until around June 20 or later, the future remains uncertain because of the nature of our business.
4. Can you tell us about your business and what’s something you would recommend to someone who’s never been there?
The Serene Spot specializes in designing a session for the needs of the client, that can be in the form of massage, esthetics or recovery therapies.
